Microsoft Teams has been designed from the ground up to integrate seamlessly with your daily life, so you can be productive no matter where you are or what device you’re using at the time. If you don’t already have Microsoft Teams in your organization, here’s how to set it up and get started with it on mobile devices! (See more about Microsoft Teams here)
Setting up your device
Assuming you’ve already downloaded the app, open it and sign in with your Microsoft account. If you don’t have a Microsoft account, you can create one for free. Once you’re signed in, you’ll see a list of your teams (or channels, if you’re not in a team). Select the team you want to join and then choose a channel. In the channel, you can start a chat or video call, or join an existing conversation.
To start a new conversation, click the New message at the top of the screen. You can also attach files from your device’s storage, from OneDrive (if you are a subscriber), or from other apps like Dropbox. To send images directly from your phone’s camera roll, tap on Start recording. To send a voice note, tap the mic icon on the bottom left corner of the screen.
If you use another app like Skype for Business or Outlook 365, you can sync your contacts so that when someone calls you their contact card will pop up automatically within Microsoft Teams (assuming they’re in your contact list). Likewise, if you get a notification from Skype for Business or Outlook 365 about a meeting invite, it will show up as an event within Microsoft Teams.
Getting Started
Whether you’re working from home or on the go, Microsoft Teams lets you collaborate with others in real time. Here’s how to get started using it on your mobile device – Install the app by searching for Microsoft Teams in the app store of your choice. – On iOS devices, use Face ID or Touch ID to authenticate yourself as an administrator and sign into your account. If you don’t have a passcode enabled yet, we recommend enabling one so that nobody else can access your phone.
You’ll need to do this each time you turn on your device. You can then choose whether to create a Microsoft Teams password or use your email address and password. Once you’re signed in, tap the Messages tab up top, then tap New Conversation at the bottom right corner of the screen. From there, the type who you want to talk with, what they want to talk about, and when they want to chat – done! To reply to a conversation, just open the tab where the message appears and tap Reply.
To start chatting while browsing webpages or emails, click on the chat icon which will appear in any chat thread within Outlook Mail, Outlook Calendar, Office 365 SharePoint Online pages (including wikis), OneDrive for Business sites (including document libraries), PowerPoint Online presentations (including slides), SharePoint lists, Yammer posts/profiles/groups etc., Skype for Business conferences (including chats) and more.
